The rough Wisconsin limestone and deep-set windows give a massive, almost "Richardsonian" character of solidity and permanence to this structure. That solidity, combined with the lightness of the upper portion and roof, puts the whole building into a balanced tension. The exterior walls of this house are made of rough Wisconsin Limestone up to the second floor window sills, and stucco above, with cypress trim. There is a large open front porch supported by two massive limestone piers. The front entrance is on this porch. The large two story addition in back is stone up to the first floor window (using the original stone from the original back of the house that was removed for the addition) and stucco above. Other alterations include: The built-in gutters of the main roof have been covered over and external gutters added. The original cedar shingle roofs have been replaced with asphalt. Blueprints exist and are dated 1925.
