Van Bergen created a beautiful and charming cottage style home for Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kurtzon. Created using all natural materials on all surfaces this house exudes warmth and comfort. On the exterior, there is rough Wisconsin limestone laid in a very natural pattern, rough sawn, stained cypress siding and trim and cedar roof shingles. On the interior, walls are brick or wood paneling with exposed fir ceiling beams and tongue-and-groove wood ceilings. The floors throughout are wide oak boards. The building is sited at the end of a cul-de-sac and is surrounded by deep ravines. The house is still in very original and good condition (1998). Full building documentation exists including site plans, blueprints, specifications and landscaping plans.
