The rectangular "prows" of the veranda and stair landing help to create a very striking residence. Windows form the corners all around the second story.
Although the design is unmistakably "Van Bergen", the red color which has been applied to the window and trim by a later owner gives the house a "Wrightian" flavor. Van Bergen's choice of colors would surely have been more natural tones such as browns, greens or tans.
The present garage was built in 1959.
