A plaque inside the building says: "Originally dedicated November 6, 1929 as a memorial to Mrs. Nell Martin Seyfarth, a longtime Highland Park resident and member of the District 108 Board of Education. 'The Flight of Time' was designed by noted architect John S. Van Bergen, also of Highland Park.
"The group of Lincoln School alums, teachers, parents, friends, etc. below, organized to collect money to restore the clock, which hadn't worked in years.
"The refurbished clock was rededicated May 17, 1981 and an endowment fund was set up to keep it telling time forever (we hope)."
A long list of names then follows.
Since this photo was taken, a new wing has been added, the clock has been restored and re-mounted in a different location on the building.
