Arguably the greatest Prairie School apartment building ever designed, The Munyer Apartment Building is rich in subtle detail. There are eighteen apartments (now condominiums), twelve with roman brick fireplaces. Even the smaller one bedroom apartments have large living and dining rooms. The exceptional finish of the building carries to the rear, where all of the back porch landings are attractive and look out over a courtyard. This architecture is a masterpiece of multi-unit design, by any standard. Begun in 1915, this was the last design built (it was completed in 1917) before World War I stopped all building and Van Bergen joined the army in 1918.
