Interesting because of its gabled roofs (unusual for Van Bergen), the Horder house is similar in plan to the Hemingway house at 106 S. Grove. The Living and Dining rooms which open to the front veranda, occupy a single space along the entire front of the house. Due to the unusual plan which lacks the usual core of the combined entry/stairs, space is interrupted and wasted with a hallway running behind the Living Room. Harry Gladstone Horder took over the business of his father, Edward Y. Horder in 1918, called Horder's Inc.. Horder's was a mail order business in Chicago and had the famous logo, "Order from Horder". The permit for this house is dated April 16, 1914.
