My dear Mr. Purcell,
The desk and chair have been shipped by pre-paid freight.
I very much regret the great delay but somehow things went wrong from the start. It was finished however finally to my satisfaction and I am sure no fault can be found with it. The last delay was caused by the young lady who does the hand decorating on my furniture. She is the wife of the Artist next to me, and became a mother just about the time we were ready for that work. I did not want to have anyone else start on it. So waited.
We were also swamped with work and could not get competent men.
I have my shop reorganized and hope to have no more trouble.
In that last six months it has been almost impossible to get things out as planned.
I thank you all for being so patient and assure nothing like this will happen again.
Sincerely,
Robert Jarvie [signature]
