William H. Watt Residence - 1913
806 N. Columbian - Oak Park, Illinois

Mr. and Mrs. William H. Watt and daughter Ruth lived in this house form 1913 to 1922.  The permit is dated June 19, 1913.  Mr. Watt worked with Van Bergen's father (they were both auditors) for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad.  In 1921 Van Bergen built another house for the Watt family in Lombard at 29 Ash Street on some vacant property that they owned.
An interesting feature of this house is the angled window on the stairway landing.  The major 2 story addition on the back is not in keeping with the architecture and destroys the small, fine scale of the house.  A stucco wall on the North side is not original.
