Since Van Bergen had just created a masterpiece the year before in Braeside School, why not draw from it, expand the idea to a group of buildings sited on a large piece of landscaped property. Combined with an earlier 1923 building by the architects Rapp and Rapp, Van Bergen's buildings are spread across the sprawling wooded site. According to records, the main house was built in 1928. In 1937, the original dining room was altered by Van Bergen, a bath house was built and the Bates Field House was built. Some other work was done in 1945 to 1946. In 1948, the Van Bergen designed dining hall was built and in 1951, the boys' dormitory was built.
