Clifford Raymond House in Highland Park A Possible Teardown

This building, for sale as of February 2003, is on a nice ravine lot in Highland Park.  It is listed for over $1 million dollars - much more than a house that age and size is worth, but what the land is definitely worth.  A substantial number of neighboring houses are newer (and larger)  following teardowns.  I'm not too optimistic about this one.

This house was an somewhat unusual collaboration between John Van Bergen and Lawrence Buck, friends, neighbors and architects living in Highland Park.  One story that was related to me by Van Bergen's daughter, Nancy, was that Buck, having not kept up his license to practice architecture in Illinois took on this collaboration as a legal necessity.

Here is a copy of the permit (courtesy of Larry Shure of the Highland Park Department of Community Development.)
