Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record

The HABS record for the Babson Service Buildings contains drawings, 13 photographs (thumbnails shown below), data pages, and supplemental materials.  The images are by noted architectural photographer Richard Nickel, who literally gave his life to document Sullivan buildings as they were rapidly disappearing in the Chicago area during the 1950s and 1960s.  The HABS images provide interesting interior shots absent from other sources, and come in three resolutions (including a standard reference size [about 30KB], a larger reference image [approximately 140-180 KB], and the enormous but highly satisfying TIF files for those with broadband download speeds--with these you can look at the cracks in the walls [about 19MB].  Because the server times out, the thumbnails below are not linked.  You will need to access those pages by searching directly the HABS files in the Architectural collections in the American Memory section of Library of Congress.  The thumbnails, with the full HABS citation, are provided here only for the reference of researchers who may wish to consult that resource.
