Yale Place Extension

Through some civic minded person, I believe it was George D. Dayton who had an interest in seeing some street replanning toward improving the approach to his department store, I made some studies for revising the street articulation in the neighborhood of Yale Place.  The city politics were too complicated to secure any result at this time, but in the 1920s this district, including Harmon Place, was completely and very successfully revamped, accomplishing in modified form the objectives which I laid down in these studies.

Note: This included, ironically enough, the destruction of the front of the Garage for the Electric Carriage and Battery Company, which Purcell discusses in his Parabiographies entry for that commission.
