Sotheby's American Renaissance auction
December 17, 2004

Sometimes miracles occur in life. The survival of this arm chair is one of them. David Gebhard told me that he had lent the matching sofa to the Campus Club at UC-Santa Barbara, complete with loan agreement. When he went back later to loan the object to an exhibition, he discovered that the sofa had been hauled off in a dumpster during a renovation of the club.
