This view of the picture is significant, in that it shows the original state of the painting prior to damage in a train wreck as the Purcell household was moved from Philadelphia to Portland, Oregon, in 1919.  Although part of the Purcell collection at the University of Minnesota Northwest Architectural Archives, the painting now hangs in the Lake Place living room as it originally did.  The existing canvas is missing approximately 15 percent of the left side of the image.
