Research Notes

  • Harry D. Page selected Walter Burley Griffin as architect for his new home, located at 21 S. Rock Glen, Mason City, Iowa. A great irony would unfold as the Griffins left for Australia after winning the Australian Parliament Buildings Competition in 1914, which P&E also entered. Griffin asked Purcell to look after his ongoing work in the United States.
